Foster Homes: Foster homes are one of our most precious resources. We can only save as many boxers as we have foster homes to shelter them. We are always in need of compassionate people to join our foster team. The principle behind fostering is to provide a home environment in order to evaluate the dog’s habits and behavior as well as any other information that will assist the new owner. Opening your heart and home to a rescue boxer can be an extremely rewarding experience and BARC will be there to support you every step of the way. We cover the medical expenses for foster dogs at our partner veterinarians while you provide the daily care.
Transporters: We can use assistance transporting boxers to and from vet appointments, from shelters to foster homes and when longer distances are involved, participating in legs of the CUR (Canine Underground Railroad) system. Transport volunteers are absolutely vital to our mission of saving boxers. Any miles that you travel assisting our rescue dogs are also tax deductible.
Home Visit Volunteers: Once an application has progressed to the last stage, we need volunteers living throughout our coverage area to do home visits, which involves doing an onsite evaluation of the potential new home for one of our rescue boxers.
Event Staff: In addition to the above, BARC sometimes needs volunteers to help staff our fundraising events, which can be great fun!
If you are interested in volunteering in all or one of these capacities, please fill out our foster application. If fostering is not an option you are open to, just indicate what other volunteering opportunities interest you.
