Dougan is a handsome young male who was surrendered by his owners for digging. He is 2 years old and previously lived as an outside dog. He is well mannered in the house and gets along well with other dogs. He seems to enjoy house life very much – as it’s so luxurious compared to being outside all day, and he loves to play and lounge around with his foster brother, Winston. Dougan is an “attention hog” and absolutely loves being talked to and loved on. When talked to, he contorts his body into the shape of a kidney bean and does the famous “boxer wiggle”. Dougan will remain in his B.A.R.C. foster home forever due to a heart condition known as aortic stenosis. We looked into treatment options for Dougan and he would have been considered for a pioneer study that might have very well helped him, but because he is also afflicted with heartworms, he was not a candidate for this program. This is so unfortunate for poor Dougan. There is really no telling how long Dougan’s lifespan is. At B.A.R.C., we treat him as any other dog, allow him to play with his foster brother as much as he wants, play with toys, eat yummy treats, etc. He currently has no restrictions and seems to be a happy, well-adjusted dog.
Boxer kisses to Pat and John of Lake City, FL for sponsoring Dougan! [Back]
