Merry

Merry came to B.A.R.C. from a shelter partner after she’d been surrendered due to fence jumping. Upon bringing her into her foster home, it became immediately evident that she’d been used to breed and that she’d been badly mistreated. She shied away from being approached and only felt safe in her crate. Since being there, she’s learned that she will not be hurt and has come out of her shell a good bit. Merry is a wagger and a wiggler and certainly enjoys the company of her submissive foster siblings. She’s still learning that it’s okay to play with toys and occasionally will break out into full play with her foster sibs.

Merry is a very pretty and petite girl who will ideally weigh about 50 pounds with a little needed weight gain. She is 4.5 years old. Her personality is loving and sweet and is typical of the breed in her desire to please and be near her trusted people. Ideally, she will be best in a home with someone who is home more often than not and has other submissive dogs to keep her company. She continues to feel safest in her crate and will do best with a crate of her own always available. Although she walks well on a leash, she is constantly on alert for her own safety, and it’s difficult to get her to potty on leash walks. She should have a yard with at least a 6 ft. privacy fence where she will feel safe going potty. Unfortunately, in addition to being abused and over bred, she is heartworm positive and will need to be treated for heartworms prior to being adopted.

In a home where she feels safe, Merry is becoming merry with time and will continue learning to trust with a patient and loving family!
